The studies made on entrepreneurship in Italy give a first structural definition of young entrepreneur: relatively high age (the largest percentage of entrepreneurs is over 40), low levels of education and training, higher proportion of women than the average.
For new businesses only 56.5% of entrepreneurs are younger than 40, and of these only 12.7% is under 30 years.
Individual enterprises in Italy are more than 3,364,000.

Between June 2002 and June 2011 have gone out of business 65,358 sole proprietorships whose owners were less than 30 years.

In 2002, business owners born outside the EU were just over 116 thousand. In June 2010 their share rose to over 258,500, an increase of almost 123%.

Women entrepreneurs
In 2010 the enterprises of women increased by 1, 4% compared to 2009. The business with majority of female shareholders (between 50% and 75%) is more than tripled and the business with 75% of female stakeholders increased to 68.7%, while companies composed exclusively of women (as partners or as capital) have decreased by 5.7%. |
