Sweden

6.1.1. Integrated in regular school education

The Swedish government believes that entrepreneurship is to run like a thread throughout the education system. Given that there is a higher proportion of young men than young women starting their own business, it is particularly certainty to encourage girls and young women's entrepreneurship. Different aspects of entrepreneurship are more relevant in some parts of the education system than in others. The basis for the development of an entrepreneurial approach is established early by, for example, girls 'and boys' curiosity, creativity, confidence and ability to make decisions is stimulated.

Within secondary schools and tertiary education, it is reasonable to give greater emphasis to the specific knowledge and skills needed to start and run businesses. On the college level, entrepreneurship education involve both theoretical and practical study of the whole process of examining the Ides commercial viability of establishing a company in the market. Higher education in entrepreneurship can also, more generally, prepare students for working with change processes in large as well as smaller organizations, in both private and public sectors.

6.1.2. In school

In 2009-2010 GR Education (Gothenburg region) ran the project Growth. The target group was teachers in high school and adult education. The project had 1969 unique participants and included 75 000 hours training.

Here you can read more about the project: http://www.growthprojektet.se/

6.1.3. Outside of school

In western Sweden, there are many NGOs, foundations, associations, businesses and working life organizations etc. which contribute in different ways to promote entrepreneurship in education.

Several concepts of entrepreneurial overtones have been prepared and addressed to students of different ages in the school. Most of these are national or regional, for example, Finn Upp and Framtidsfröns starter tool, while other concepts are internationally established, for example, Open for Business and Young Enterprise.

Work with science and technology can also be seen as a method to train entrepreneurial skills. By example, working with NTA (Science and Technology for All) lift the concept of knowledge as the basis for exploratory and creative work.
