Austria

In Austria the rate of early school leavers decreased from 2007 to 2010 from 10.7 percent to 8.3 percent.

In southern Austria – including Styria – the rate is even lower, 7.1 percent in 2010 (source: EUROSTAT).

Especial aspect is that concerning the gender differences in Austria females are not less (and males not more) are effected from early school leaving.

The percentage of NEET in Austria is nearly 9 percent and compared to other regions rather low. Although the NEET concept is different to the definition of early school leavers their percentage within the age group is nearly the same.

E.g.: NEETS, 18 to 24 years, all: AT: 2008: 8.7 % / 2009: 9.5 % / 2010: 8.8 %.
