The Netherlands: Municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch

's-Hertogenbosch is the capital of prosperous Noord-Brabant, the largest province of the Netherlands. Many national and international companies consider 's-Hertogenbosch to be an attractive location for their establishments. And understandably so, since apart from good facilities, such as a beautiful historic inner city, the city also offers high quality office and business sites. ‘s-Hertogenbosch is situated directly alongside the main transportation artery of the Netherlands, the A2. New and innovative office and business sites will be developed alongside this A2 during the years to come. ‘s-Hertogenbosch has about 1.500 employees. The section Culture, welfare and social affairs is the section of the department of youth and education, 50 staff members are working in this field. The focus is to realize a well-functioning labour market. The cooperation between education, companies and local government is strong. This forms a good basis to connect entrepeneurship education and the world of work.

Working area: As municipality we work primarily on local and regional level. Our municipality however has a European focus. With all kind of EU-countries we already work for more than 10 years in European exchange programs like Equal, Leonardo da Vinci partnership and Transfer of Innovation, Comenius Regio, Comenius Network and multilateral. This all to learn from other countries on the topics of early school leaving and youth unemployment. We had/have some best practices and disseminated this also on national level, even on European level.
