Denmark

As described in chapter 6.1., entrepreneurship education is an integrated part of Careers Education in Denmark. From the perspective of contemporary career theories, entrepreneurship education would include research based approaches and strategies aiming at:

  • developing student’s self-efficacy beliefs and promoting self-agency (the student’s self-concepts)
  • stimulate and support student’s broad career explorations, including opportunities for self-employment (the students worldview and opportunity awareness)
  • assist students in the process of developing a personal career plan (the student’s outcome expectations and personal goals)

In general, entrepreneurship education should be aimed at promoting entrepreneurial spirit amongst all students and prepare them for the transition from school to work. In practise, this call for a holistic approach which includes strategies to assist students to make informed and reflected decisions about their future, and to balance different life roles (e.g. work and family).
