According to Eurostat data on January 2011, the European Commission has warned of the serious problem of dropouts in Spain, whose percentage is over twice the average of the European Union (EU) and has been worsening over the past decade. 31.2% of Spanish youths between 18 and 24 years has left school without completing secondary education, according to the latest data available.

The Experts opinion is that many young people left school in Spain attracted by the demand for low-skilled jobs in sectors such as construction. But with the crisis, they ran out of work and now they donīt know what to do. Thatīs one of the reasons why the effects of unemployment are particularly striking among people without any specific training.
