Denmark

With the service sector's dominant role in the economy, expected overall structural shifts between the three main sectors of the economy now replaced of structural shifts within the three sectors. The hitherto dominant tertiary sector of the economy where service sector has assumed greater importance is replaced by a "quarter-polarization" of the economy. This implies that growth in services mainly driven by the knowledge-based service is extensive. Knowledge services sector differs from many other service industries, by having a higher productivity and by the sale to contribute to productivity improvements in other employment sectors.

In Denmark, the business sector is one of the fastest growing service industries. In Denmark, the business in 2006 around 8.7% of the business structure and its importance in the business structure are grown by 2.3 percentage points since 1999. Next to this is the second fastest growing industry teaching. The next table shows how the sectors are distributed in Denmark and the employment in 2006 and the changes until 1999.
